almanac

i think im ready for spring.

yesterday we started planting our garden(s). i dont know much about plants. this year we hope for some sugar snap peas, lettuce, spinach, tomato, cucumber, jalepeno (no habeneros this time), squash, and eggplant. maybe some herbs in there at some point.

gardening is a pretty great experience. i hope that at some point in my life i am a farmer. right now i would like to grow algae and maybe some kind of seetum for roofs. i would also have a barn with a welder and some woodworking tools...but the bulk of the barn would be for boogying. anyway. blah blah cliche, working with your hands in the earth just feels kind of right. and placing each seed like a prayer just felt right too. i think churches and other religious bodies should incorporate planting as a part spiritual practice. and planting with friends is pretty rad. mush.

in other news, we made a bitchin firepit/kiln in our backyard. i am super excited for nights in the backyard with our new friend. right now i just got the urge to call it milo. i dont know if that will stick. we used bricks we found in the backyard, so its a little uneven due to inconsistent blocks. but he's charming and b.a. at the same time.

next order of business. firewood.
and maybe some more sound seating for the backyard.
