HBO is filiming the third season of The Wire. last night, it just so happened that we (my roomates and i) snuck up to the parking garage where they were filming. i managed to snap a few spoiler pics before we were escorted off the set. i have not yet viewed any episodes, but i would really like to catch up on the previous seasons, especially now that i reside in charm city. i've been told it has a lot good insight into the community of baltimore and its workings. afterwards we ate pie.

i know i have a lot of idealistic notions of what it will be like to become engaged in the community, but thats ok. the way i see it, as long as i know they are idealistic and still make an effort i think the extent of my disillusionment will be mitigated. maybe you veteran city folks may have a few other words to add.

i would like to figure out some way to partner with a government initiative of some sort and renovate houses in the city using LEED (green building) principles and turn them over as affordable housing. im not sure how this would effect the local market and gentrification and all, but the idea sounds great. ideally this initiative would promote social and enviromental justice, and i could be a carpenter...ideally.
