industrial light and magic is 1337

puppets look so much better than computer graphics. unless the whole movie is computer animated, i think there should be a moratorium on the use of cg in movies. i think it makes movie makers lazy.

good movies with puppets:
star wars (iv-vi)
the labyrinth
dark crystal
tmnt

pixar does a good job for cg.

at one point i wanted to do animatronics for puppets (for the cinema or amusement parks). i was too lazy to really go for it. i applied to disney imagineers. i think it would still be a pretty fun job, but i dont have any regrets passing over it. i like liz's question about work and the ideal job - am i doing that "other" thing now in my spare time? this would have been helpful for me when i would change my "passion" daily. it just reflected a dissatisfaction with myself more than my job, one of those 'the grass is greener' kind of things. i think im still tempted to entertain the thought of other means of earning wages. not out of the woods yet. ill probably do it for quite some time.

I've always been a nerd for CG (cgsociety.org), so I'm going to always be a supporter. It once was my dream to work for Pixar. Maybe one day, I will go rekindle my love for animation, but I'm pretty happy with design at the moment.
