what you know about switchin lanes with the wood grain.

yesterday i had my day in court. 75 in a 55, shame on me. it really makes no difference what you say when you are called to the stand. once you see the first case, you realize that the judge has already made his/her judgment for the entire room. i got 1 of the 2 points removed from my record, so i guess that's good.

mental shifts are quite difficult. the mind just has so much momentum when it's set in one direction. i mean it has to, it has to propel you forward along the course you've picked. if its undecided you arent going to move anywhere very well. i just had to switch back and forth a few times with job decisions like who to partner with and it was pretty tiring. it was just interesting to see how i hard it was to get re-excited about the original option after i switched energy to plan b, even though just days before the original option was what i really wanted. i dont know what im saying, i just think the mind is really good at protecting us. it bolsters and props up the images that we want and makes a pretty solid wall around it to keep us feeling secure. it helps us see what we need to see to feel confident about life and decisions.

and just think about all the defense mechanisms we've constructed over time. they can be really annoying, but they work. even if you put all your concious energy to stop them, they dont really seem to want to budge. if we didnt have them, we'd probably be toast. all those tools were kind of just picked up without our knowledge. the mind is pretty intense.
